About SigMa

SigMa is a male group based in the District of Columbia. Founded in 1984, our name derives from the Greek letter, and stands for “Special Interest Group Men’s Association.”

We are a diverse group of gay and bisexual men. Our members tend to be highly individualistic. Some are very specialized in their erotic interests and seldom play outside a narrow area of expertise, while others have wide-ranging and versatile interests.

We are devoted to providing an environment where like-minded men can safely and sanely explore alternative sensual experiences, from bondage to hard-core.

We provide a forum where members can pool ideas, experience and expertise to ensure that a given technique or activity is performed competently and safely.

We leave it entirely up to the discretion of individual members how these techniques are applied in their own lives. We only request that members act responsibly, safely and with full consideration for their partners' needs when engaging in any activity.

SigMa is membership-run, non-profit, non-commercial, and non-political.

Our membership overlaps other local and national clubs. We are a member of the Capital Area Board.

Membership is open to men at least 21 years of age who adhere to the principles of safe, sane and consensual sex.

SigMa membership is for novice and experienced male players. We welcome newcomers, recognizing that all of us were novices once and some of us still are in one or more activities.

Members must complete a membership form and pay the annual or monthly dues. We recognize that many members require discretion, and careful consideration is given to these concerns.

Members are entitled to discounted admission to parties, a vote in the annual elections, periodic newsletters, a regularly updated Member Contact Roster, and access to the Members Play Interests Roster.

If desired, members allow their contact information to appear in the Member Contact Roster. This Membership Roster is distributed to members only. Additionally, members have access to our Members Play Interests Roster, a fully optional listing of individual activities and interests.
